Adventures with Meatball: Exploring Trough Creek State Park
Welcome back to my blog! If you're new here, let me introduce myself: I'm Toni, and together with my husband Max and our adventurous dog Meatball, we explore the beautiful outdoors around Huntingdon, PA. Every weekend, we embark on mini hikes, discovering new trails and picturesque spots. This time, we ventured to Trough Creek State Park in James Creek, Pennsylvania. Join us on our latest adventure and discover why Trough Creek should be on your list of must-visit places!
Discovering Trough Creek State Park
Trough Creek State Park is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania, offering a diverse range of outdoor activities that cater to adventurers of all ages. Whether you're an avid hiker, a fishing enthusiast, or just looking for a serene picnic spot, Trough Creek has something for everyone.
Our Adventure Begins
We started our journey by parking near the trailhead that leads to the suspension bridge. It was Meatball's first time crossing a suspension bridge, and he was a bit hesitant at first. The sway of the bridge and the rushing creek below made for an exciting challenge. However, on our way back, Meatball confidently trotted across like a pro!
Balancing Rock and Beyond
After crossing the suspension bridge, we made our way to the famous Balancing Rock. This natural wonder is a massive boulder precariously balanced on the edge of a cliff, a testament to the power and beauty of nature. From there, we continued our hike along a trail that led us to a breathtaking spot along the creek. The serene sound of flowing water and the lush greenery made it a perfect place to take a break and soak in the beauty of our surroundings.
What Trough Creek State Park Offers
Trough Creek State Park is not just about hiking. Here are some other activities you can enjoy:
